6 Things You Need To Know About Clubhouse For Realtors (2023)

Every real estate agent should be sure to stay on top of the latest social media trends if they hope to grow their business. Right now, the buzz is all about an app called Clubhouse. In this post, we’ll explore everything you need to know about Clubhouse for real estate agents, including how it works and how you can leverage it for your business.

What is Clubhouse?

Clubhouse is an audio-only social media app for the iPhone that’s only been around for a little over a year. It’s currently still in beta testing, so it is not available to the general public yet. The only way you can join is if you receive an invitation from a current user.

However, there are plans to open the app to Android users and the general public down the road.

Think of Clubhouse as an interactive podcast, where you can participate in live conversations in different audio-only chat rooms. You can either join in someone else’s room or start your own.

Rooms vary depending on your selected interests, and there is a wide variety of categories. For example, real estate falls under the “Hustle” category. If you choose this as your interest, Clubhouse will recommend rooms based on this topic.

For this reason, it’s best to pick your interests and followers carefully so that you only see relevant content on your feed, which is called the “Hall.”

Aside from rooms, Clubhouse also features “Clubs,” which are communities organized around a particular interest within which the members can start rooms. Joining a club requires an invitation. Once you are a member, you can see the club’s activity, including current and upcoming rooms. Keep in mind that you can still host a room without being a member of a club.

How To Participate In A Conversation

To participate in the conversations in rooms, users click the “Raise Your Hand” button to be selected by the moderator. Then when it’s your turn to speak, you will come up to the “Stage,” and your iPhone’s microphone will automatically be unmuted so you can begin talking.

Conversations may have designated speakers and be closed to audience participation, or they can be open discussions where everyone can interact and ask questions.

An important feature of Clubhouse is that conversations cannot be recorded and viewed later. So if you miss a discussion, you will not be able to listen to it unless there is a similar one in the future.

Clubhouse for real estate agents is appealing to its users because of its audio-only nature, which makes people more likely to participate. While someone might skip a video call on Zoom because they don’t want to be on camera, Clubhouse offers an easily accessible alternative so they can still be involved.

How to Navigate Clubhouse

To connect with other Clubhouse users, you will have to search for followers, rooms, clubs, and interests.

there are five main icons that you use to navigate the app:

  • Search bar – search for keywords in your industry to find new users to follow and different rooms and clubs to join.
  • Email icon – use this icon to send invitations to people so they can join the platform. Every user starts with one invitation.
  • Calendar – this page will show you a schedule of upcoming conversations from the rooms, clubs, and users you follow so that you can remember when something is coming up.
  • Notification bell – You will get a notification about your followers’ activity so that you can join the rooms they are going in. You will also get notifications whenever you get a new follower and to remind you about upcoming rooms.
  • Profile icon – You can edit your profile photo and bio with the profile icon in the upper right corner.

Clubhouse is very notification-intensive. If you have many followers, you can adjust your notification settings so that your phone isn’t constantly bombarded with your followers’ activity.

Set Up Your Profile

The only time you can type in Clubhouse is when you are setting up your bio. While you can write as much as you want in your bio, remember that users will only see the first 125 characters unless they click to expand it.

For this reason, pick the most relevant information to put at the top of your bio. This should include who you are, your market, what you specialize in, and any achievements you have in your industry.

Make your profile unique with eye-catching details such as emojis, and be sure to include a call-to-action to encourage people to reach out to you. You can also have links to your website, Facebook, and phone number, but these will not be clickable.

The most important feature of your profile is to link your Instagram and Twitter accounts because these will be clickable.

Since you cannot direct message other users on Clubhouse, connecting your Instagram and Twitter is essential so that people have a way to communicate with you. Not to mention, this is a great way to gain new followers to your social media pages organically.

How Can You Use Clubhouse For Your Real Estate Business?

At the moment, Clubhouse is best used for networking with other real estate agents and professionals in your industry. To this end, follow different agents in your field that you’d like to collaborate and connect with, and then engage with them across the platform.

It’s important to engage in as many rooms as you can so that you can share your knowledge and learn new skills from your fellow agents.

Whenever you’re in a room accepting speakers, take the opportunity to speak. The goal is not to sell yourself or your services, but to provide value and learn from your peers. Share your experiences or ask thoughtful questions. Engaging like this will build your brand awareness and increase your authority in the industry.

When you demonstrate your experience on a particular topic, people will be more likely to visit your profile and follow you on Clubhouse and other social media platforms.

Clubhouse is also a great way to drive referrals for your business. Your fellow agents can send you clients in your market, and you can do the same for them.

You can join or create a room dedicated to the purpose of getting referrals.

Hosting Your Own Rooms

While simply engaging across the platform is a great way to use Clubhouse for real estate agents, at some point you will want to start hosting your own rooms. Hosting rooms will help you gain even more authority in your industry.

You can start a room instantly or schedule one ahead of time. Since conversations only occur once, it’s a good idea to set up a weekly or biweekly room where you can repeat important information for anyone who missed out on previous discussions.

You can host rooms to talk about any advice that is helpful to other agents. This can include trends in your local housing market, information about your brokerage, advice for new Realtors, and marketing tips.

While Clubhouse is best used to meet other Realtors at the moment, that doesn’t mean there aren’t any buyers or sellers on the platform at all. You can create rooms geared toward that audience as well. Potential topics can include tips for first-time home buyers, talks highlighting features of your local city, interviews with leaders in your community, and general information about the real estate buying or selling process.

Final Thoughts on Clubhouse for Real Estate Agents

So, will Clubhouse become the next big thing? It’s impossible to know if the app will eventually fade away or become the next Instagram. However, that’s beside the point.

If you want to leverage social media for your business, you should make the most of Clubhouse for real estate agents and incorporate it into your marketing strategy. In addition, the time to join is now! Once the app opens up to the public, it will become much harder to gain followers and stand out among the crowd.

Are you already on Clubhouse? If so, what has your experience been like using the app? If not, do you plan to join? Let me know in the comments below!
